Nobody can escape April Fool's Day, no matter how hard they try, and everybody is a skeptic as soon as they wake up. Whether it's your friend telling you a slightly believable story, or a brand throwing out a crazy new product that they're supposedly releasing, it's hard to know what's true and what's not.
Now that's all over, and everybody's minds are at peace once again, we thought we would share a few of our favourite pranks from this year's April Fool's Day.
Google really went to work this year, with multiple spoof products being advertised, and a couple of little simple tricks. The first on our list is making Google Maps a lot more fun to find your way around. If you go to Google Maps and head to your favourite location, simply click the Pac-Man icon in the lower left, and play to heart's content. If your favourite location doesn't work, try going to Times Square in New York instead. We're not sure how long the game will be up for, so play while you can!
Google also put in a new extension for those of us who don't have enough time in the day for doing anything on the internet. Self-Browsing Chromebook does what it says on the tin - it browses for you. If you really have no time for the internet at all, this new extension will email your mother for you, send your wife flowers, and even book your holiday!
Google really knows how to mess with people, and they proved it when they produced com.google yesterday. If you typed in com.google into your web browser, it came up with a backwards Google homepage. However, it wasn't just the homepage. Everything was back to front, even the search results and images!
This isn't by Google, but it's definitely one of the best out there this year. Yesterday T-Mobile presented us with a new family plan that includes "all family members, even if they lack opposable thumbs." Pets Unleashed gives you the opportunity to connect with your pets when you're not at home, and it's not just for the owner. Your pets can enjoy a unique range of offerings and apps, such as Fetch Freedom, Pet Translator and SnapCat!
Created by the geniuses at Twelve South, the HiRise Toast is a stand for your iMac with a built in toaster. Not only does the stand raise your computer to a more comfortable height, but it also toasts your bagels and bread for you! It's perfect for those occasions when you forget breakfast, or have too much work piled up to even consider a lunch break. This one is definitely too good to be true!
We can only wonder what Google will come up with next year, but here's a few of the other products they whipped up for this year:
